A Fresh Chapter: Chapel & Friary Walk Shopping Centres in the Heart of Worcester

Worcester’s shopping scene is set to shine even brighter; Starburst UK has taken ownership of the former Crowngate Shopping Centre. They are embracing the area’s heritage by bringing the historic names: Chapel Walk and Friary Walk, to the forefront. The choice in rebranding these two shopping centres back to Chapel Walk and Friary Walk reflects the spaces’ very different identities, and will help people easily find the shopping, dining or entertainment experience they are looking for.

Chapel Walk, a blend of High Street icons and beautiful boutique shops, features a peaceful courtyard where you can unwind with coffee, lunch or dinner. After which you may wish to visit the adjoining Huntingdon Hall; a converted 18th Century Church, which offers live performances in an enchanting setting. New retailers, including Menkind, Stonemasons of Worcester, Fox Town and Country Homes, Fuel Clothing, Snap Ladies Fashion, and Rose Beauty Studio, have recently joined this thriving space.

Friary Walk, easily accessible via Friary Walk Car Park and Worcester City Bus Station at Friary Walk, remains a hub for affordable, convenient shopping, and is the place to go for fun, local activities. New arrivals such as High Scores Arcade and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity join a variety of high-street favourites.

In the last year, since Starburst UK have taken over the properties, extensive rejuvenation projects have taken place, from cleaning the beautiful stone exterior and painting the interior of Unicorn Walk to looking after the trees at the Bus Station, and updating the malls in Friary Walk. There are more innovative projects in the offing, including the regeneration of Crown Chambers to Friary Lofts, and Broad Street Flats are to be the first phase of Chapel Lofts. These are going to be beautiful living spaces for Worcester residents, with a focus on mixed use regeneration; the convenience of city centre living whilst having access to vibrant, multi-functional spaces.

Chapel & Friary Walk continue to celebrate Worcester’s community spirit with a packed calendar of activities which include VE Day and Easter Celebrations coming soon, as well as supporting Worcester events such as Worcester Festival and Worcester City Run. “Our city centre has always been a place of connection, and this next chapter is about building on that legacy,” said Michael Lloyd, who has dedicated 18 years to the management of the centre. “We’re embracing the past while looking forward to a dynamic future—creating a destination where people love to shop, socialise, and experience the best of Worcester.”
