BONDING
📅 Friday 18th July 2025
The Myth, Legend and Legacy of James Bond
Written and performed by Cyril Blake
Directed by Matthew Parker
Cyril Blake’s sell-out hit from the Edinburgh Fringe explores the myth, legend and legacy of James Bond – and what it all means to guys trying to find their way through life and love.
Stephen has always wanted to be James Bond. He’s got a tux, a fancy watch and he shakes everything he drinks. But is this a good idea? Bond is a misogynist dinosaur, right?
Journey through 60 years of Bond and 30 years of Stephen as we find out if he can fulfil his father’s idea of masculinity without becoming toxic.
This sell-out hit is directed by nine-time nominee and two-time OFFIE winner, Matthew Parker and stars Cyril Blake as Stephen.
Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening
📅 Saturday 19th July 2025
Named after the old Northumbrian word for twilight, ‘The Darkening’ is made up of four North-East England-based members: Kathryn Tickell (Northumbrian smallpipes, fiddle, vocals), Amy Thatcher (accordion, synth, clogs, vocals), Kieran Szifris (octave mandolin), Joe Truswell (drums, percussion); with Dr Stef Conner from Cambridge (vocals, lyres). Together these dazzling musicians create musical magic; dynamic and unique “Ancient Northumbrian Futurism”.
Based in the shadow of Hadrian’s Wall yet reaching out to the wider world, Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening explore the connecting threads of music, landscape and people over a period of almost 2000 years. Songs range from themes of freedom, nature and venturing out into the world after times of darkness, to a Roman inscription with links to Libya and Syria magnetically pulled into the 21st century with glorious vocal harmonies and the wildest of piping.
Don’t miss this unforgettable month of music, laughter, and live performance at Huntington Hall.
